The codes on the transmitter and receiver must match. If communication failures try different codes. You can download the manual to explain the process in the downloads tab.

For the summer months, you can just press the snowflake symbol to put the thermostat into frost protect. For full off (not recommended as it can leave your system vulnerable to frost) there is a switch under the receiver cover.

No, it is the small recessed button under the snowflake button. You will need a pin to press it.

The receiver need to be compatible with the thermostat. If you have a HRFS1 receiver, then you can only use a HRFS1 thermostat.

DIP Switch number 4 should be in the down position. You will need to press reset after making the change.

You can press the frost button to put it into frost mode. It will only then come on if there is a risk of the pipes freezing.

It is likely the programmer has been overridden to avoid it clashing with the programmable thermostat. Programming must be done on the thermostat.
